PARENTING PIVOT: MOM! I AM AN ADULT.
Parenting, an emotionally rewarding and challenging task, entails a mix of unconditional love, introspection, self-awareness, honesty… The process requires constant adjustment, especially as children transition to adulthood, necessitating balance, respect for new boundaries, and room for evolution.
Shhh! This is PURE MATH.
The pandemic did many things that hurt, but it also provided access we wouldn’t normally have. For me, I was able to have intermittent fly-on-the-wall experiences with my daughter’s classroom shenanigans and serious discussions. Having to go to work and school from home gave many parents that type of access, regardless of how big orContinue reading “Shhh! This is PURE MATH.”
The Parent Actor: a necessary show.
The Parent Actor: A necessary show. Since she was able to properly formulate a sentence, the routine has always been that she would provide me with either a blow by blow of her day or a synopsis of the main happenings of her time away…. Not much has changed since she was a toddler, exceptContinue reading “The Parent Actor: a necessary show.”
Parenting and Trauma: the “Broken Repair”
I am certain some of what will be stated in this blog I would have already mentioned to some extent in previous blogs; either way, I think it prudent to those of us who are on this parenting/mothering/fostering/child-rearing journey to hear the experiences of those of us who are still learning as we go along,Continue reading “Parenting and Trauma: the “Broken Repair””

Unlike most, Christmas is not my thing, for more reasons than one. Plus, the commercialized madness does something to myContinue reading “Yuletide in the pandemic”
POST-PARTUM DEPRESSION IS REAL…REALLY SERIOUS!
It was six weeks before she was due, but she decided that she would come anyway. To make matters a tad more complicated, she was breached. ____________________________ The long and short of it is, I was rushed in to do a C-Section, and the rest is history. It is now 16 ¾ years after, andContinue reading “POST-PARTUM DEPRESSION IS REAL…REALLY SERIOUS!”
POSITIVE PARENTING: It is NEVER too late!
While the challenges of the pandemic are mounting, we are forced to dig deep within the recesses of our soul and everything we have been taught in Sabbath/Sunday school about God’s goodness and His grace, in order to get through it all. I know that I cannot be the only parent who has said “I’mContinue reading “POSITIVE PARENTING: It is NEVER too late!”
40-legs: my 40+ years fear!
‘SAS CRISE! I want to write this entire blog post in the Jamaican Creole, but I can’t, because my readers consist of non-Jamaicans and Jamaicans alike. But OH MY GOD!!!! I Just had another encounter with another 40-leg (centipede), and it was HUGE! Anyone who knows me knows that I am deathly afraid of theseContinue reading “40-legs: my 40+ years fear!”
